Change is inevitable even in something as long-standing as football, and with both Iniesta and Torres having surpassed the 30-mark, whilst Buffon heads into his 40s, there will be three emotional departures over the weekend.
The final matches for the trio will mark an unforgettable moment, particularly for the generation that grew up before football became dominated by the duopoly of Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Andres Iniesta
Likely the most difficult farewell will be to Barcelona legend and captain Iniesta. The midfielder has dedicated 16 years of his life to the Catalan giants, but will play in his final match at Camp Nou against Real Sociedad on Sunday. The club opted to honour him by switching the number eight of his shirt sideways to form an infinity sign. The occasion will certainly be an emotional match for a man who has remained loyal to the club since he began his career in elite football at Barca in 2002.
It is not only Barca fans who will be sad to see the midfielder depart, so will all of Spain, forever grateful for the goal that landed them the 2010 World Cup title. Iniesta is and always will be Barcelona at heart, but a small part of him remains with all Spanish football fans, regardless of the colour shirt that they wear.
Gianluigi Buffon
Buffon has been one of the greatest examples for young aspiring goalkeepers possible. Upon his transfer from Palma to Juventus back in 2001, he was, at that point, the most expensive goalkeeper in history. Now, following 17 years at the club, the Juve star's time has come to an end and he will say goodbye to the Italian giants on Saturday, at home, against Hellas Verona.
For those that have witnessed the best of Buffon, it is his knack for always being in the right position, his reflexes and incredible saves that will remain imprinted on their brains. His legacy includes no less than nine Scudettos and a World Cup with Italy in 2006.
Fernando Torres
The Wanda Metropolitano will bid a fond farewell to 'El Niño' turned father figure to many of Atletico's players this Sunday. Despite enjoying two spells in the English Premier League with Liverpool and Chelsea, it is Atletico Madrid that the striker calls home.
He returned to the Spanish capital in 2015. Although not at his peak physical best, Torres has given everything week after week. His quest for glory arrived just in time, as Atletico claimed the Europa League on Wednesday. Despite having spent just over two-and-a-half years at Atleti since his return, it's clear that Torres will hold the club he grew up supporting in his heart forever.
