'MCN', as now known by the French press, backed up their promising start in Glasgow. After a landslide victory in Ligue 1 against Metz last Friday, PSG put five more goals past Celtic in Glasgow in the opening match of their quest for European glory.
Adding up the ten goals in two matches, the €466m trident have scored eight: four for Cavani (two against Metz and two against Celtic), two for Neymar (one in each match) and two for Mbappé (one in each clash).
And in Scotland they led a lesson in efficiency. The four goals scored by the trident against Celtic were achieved in only five shots on target. It was a statement of intent that will intimidate the other great strikeforces across Europe.
The 0-5 result was also a heaviest home defeat in the history of the tournament for Celtic, European champions in 1967.
"We showed that we were able to combine on multiple occasions and that we all had chances to score, depending on where each of us ended up in relation to the goal. We're able to find solutions. But this is only the start," said Cavani at the end of the match in Glasgow, in red hot form at the start of the campaign.
Cavani has nine goals this season and, with his brace against Celtic, has surpassed former strike partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic as PSG's top goalscorer in Europe's premier competition, netting 22 times.
Neymar, the cornerstone of the trident bought for €222m from Barcelona, wasted no time in singing the praises of his team-mates, and explained that there wasn't any unhealthy competition with Cavani, the side's penalty-taker.
"They're two great attackers. We're getting to know each other. Cavani is an excellent goalscorer, and Kylian is a more mobile player, who loves to have the ball at his feet. He's a 'crack' (...) Everything's made easier when you're playing with intelligent footballers," the 'Seleção' star asserted.
Kylian Mbappé, 18 years of age and a €180m investment by PSG, stretched his precocious statistics even further. With his strike in Europe,he became PSG's youngest ever scorer in the Champions League.
What's more, he now has seven goals in his last seven Champions League matches, six of those played last season with Monaco.
Rampant in their home championship, the Parisians face a litmus test in Europe against Bayern Munich, who they host in the Parc des Princes.
