The Premier League champions would prefer that their Belgian shotstopper remains at Stamford Bridge. However, a contract stand-off is making this prospect appear increasingly unlikely.
Courtois has not signed a contract extension with Chelsea and has only one season remaining on his current deal. Real Madrid have reportedly expressed interest in the 25-year-old and this has convinced the London club that he will run down his contract to force a move to Spain.
In an attempt to prevent this, the 'Blues' are prepared to make Courtois the best paid keeper in the world with a deal worth £200,00-a-week, including add-ons.
If this proves to be unsuccessful though, Chelsea want Hart to come in as his possible replacement once his loan ends at West Ham - as reported in 'The Sun' on Sunday.
Madrid would be a logical next step for the Belgian with the club on the hunt for a long-term replacement to Keylor Navas and have had their attempts for Kepa Arrizabalaga and David De Gea rebuffed by Athletic Bilbao and Manchester United respectively.
Meanwhile, Hart would be available after falling out-of-favour under Pep Guardiola with Ederson impressing between the sticks for Manchester City this season.
