The legendary shortstopper announced that he will continue with the Portuguese champions for another season, becoming a slight 'nuisance' to Ronaldo who has another record in sight.
Throughout his illustrious career, Casillas has made 167 appearances in Europe, 14 more than his former team-mate.
If the 37-year-old had decided to hang up his boots or leave the continent for greener pastures, Ronaldo could have reached that figure next season - as long as Real Madrid reached the final.
Now it depends on how much Casillas features for Porto the following year, as he has been alternated with Jose Sa at various points this campaign.
Either way, both players would be happy for the other to possess the title of Europe's most experienced player. Although one would imagine Ronaldo will catch his older peer at some point, given he is four years his junior.
