Although most people at Manchester United were happy to see Alexis Sanchez arrive at the club in January, one man who may not have been best pleased was Anthony Martial.
The Frenchman had already been relegated to the role of a 'super sub' by Jose Mourinho, and Alexis' arrival pushed the forward even further down the pecking order at the club. Since January, Martial has only started four games for United, and has not managed to score whatsoever.
Furthermore, the introduction of Sanchez down the left wing has pushed Martial to the right, meaning he has been forced to play out of position.
His current deal at the club runs until July 2019, with an option to extend it by another year, however due to concerns over a lack of playing time, contract talks over a new deal have broken down, as reported by the 'Daily Mail'.
Barcelona could take advantage of this friction when summer comes around. The Spanish league leaders were reported to be interested in Martial last summer, however they opted for Ousman Dembele instead. They could rekindle their interest in July, with £60m the reported figure needed to tempt United to sell.
Ernesto Valverde's side are also in poll position to sign fellow Frenchman Antoine Griezmann, and have been scouting English starlet Ryan Sessegnon.
