According to 'Sky Sports', West Ham are on the verge of signing Jose Fonte and he could sign within the next 24 hours.
Hammers boss Slaven Bilic refused to mention any names in a press conference, but did say he hoped to "announce something in 24 hours".
"[Fonte is] not having a medical today. We are not talking about transfers, we are working on some though," he said.
"There are one or two players we need, it won't be easy, but we are trying. Hopefully have something to announce in 24 hours".
Fonte, Southampton's club captain, has been with the club since 2010 and was hugely influential in Southampton's rise from League One to the Premier League.
He was also a key member of Portugal's Euro 2016 winning team, starting in the final alongside Real Madrid defender Pepe in the final.
However, Fonte recently claimed on Instagram that he had not been offered a new deal at St. Mary's, with 18 months left to run on his contract.
He then recently handed in a transfer request at the club and is expected to leave the club in the current transfer window.
The Saints are eyeing Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho as a replacement, but the Reds will not settle for anything other than a permanent deal for the player.
