Last night was a memorable evening for Lionel Messi as the Argentinian managed to reach 100 goals in Europe, a figure which few players can boast.
Additionally, his goal also allowed him to end a bad spell which the 30-year-old had been suffering from for quite a while, more specifically eight months.
Barcelona's talisman got on the scoresheet on Wednesday night with a free-kick, after eight months of failing to score one. The last time he managed to score from the set-piece was in February in a La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid.
Messi scored his 100th goal in Europe and on top of that, scored one of his speciality free-kicks, despite the negative streak he was undergoing.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner now has 27 goals scored directly from free-kicks, split between the league, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, Champions League and European Super Cup.
