Premier League: Crystal Palace - 3 points, 8 games
The Eagles started the season with 7 defeats out of 7 without scoring a single goal, but things look a lot more positive after a victory against champions Chelsea last time out. Roy Hodgson will be hoping that victory can push them to turn around their terrible, as his side is currently 5 points off safety at the bottom of the Premier League.
Ligue 1: Metz - 3 points, 9 games
Metz have the same total as Crystal Palace, 3 points, but have played one more game. The team from Northern France gained their only points in a victory at Angers. Their situation isn't so drastic, though, as they only find themselves 3 points off safety.
La Liga: Malaga - 1 point, 8 games
Malaga prop up the La Liga table and are one of the three European teams to have not yet managed a win. Despite the poor results, the Andalusian side have put in some encouraging performance, and their solitary point was earned after coming back from 3-1 down with 10-men to draw level at 3-3 at home to Athletic Bilbao. Michel will have reason to believe he can turn things around, but his side are still 5 points adrift, and with a trip to the Camp Nou at the weekend, it is unlikely to get any easier.
Bundesliga: Koln - 1 point, 8 games
Koln's situation is virtually identical to the one Malaga find themselves in. They have drawn just one of their opening 8 games (at home to Hannover) and have the same goal difference as the Spanish side (-14). However, they are slightly further away from safety, with a current gap of 6 points.
Serie A: Benevento - 0 points, 8 games
Benevento are definitely the worst of the bunch at the moment, having failed to pick up a single points in their first 8 fixtures. Whilst the other clubs have reason to think things might improve after some positive performances, the recently-promoted Serie A side do not, with eight straight defeats. They have a goal difference of -17 and are five points adrift at the bottom of the table.
