PSG's core is, somewhat surprisingly, the weakest link in their star-studded lineup. It sounds crazy given that their midfield trio is made up of Marco Verratti, Adrien Rabiot and Thiago Motta, three players that any side would dream get hold of.
The truth is, however, that all three are struggling to reach the incredibly high expectations set in the French capital.
Verratti is not the player he once was, which could be linked to a summer filled with speculation tipping him for a move to Barcelona. Motta is, to put it simply, getting old (he has confirmed he will be retiring at the end of the season) and Rabiot is struggling to win the support of his own fans.
The latter is not a player that PSG can rely on to provide a spark in crucial matches. If Verratti and Motta are having an off day, Rabiot is not the type of midfielder who will take the game by the scruff of the neck and win you matches.
On the positive side, with an attack that will always score and a defence that doesn't leak goals, PSG will strike fear into any team they come up against.
