On Thursday evening, Cristiano Ronaldo claimed his fifth Ballon d'Or in Paris and went on to boldly claim there has been no other footballer at his level in the history of the game.
Real Madrid host Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday and ahead of the fixture Zidane spoke about the Portuguese ace: "I can see Cristiano Ronaldo staying here forever. It's always the same debate, if Cristiano is happy or not. But all of us who love Real Madrid want him to be here and for him to end his career here," the French manager told reporters.
"What he does every day on the pitch is phenomenal. He is part of the club's history and I hope he stays here until he retires, doing what he does," Zidane added. But his praise for the 32-year-old did not stop there.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the history of football, because what he is doing has never been done before," Zidane uttered, agreeing with the words previously spoken by the striker himself.
The Frenchman also joked when compared with the superstar: "Zidane or Cristiano? Yes, of course I was better... No, seriously, Ronaldo is the best, but I had a good career."
