Benfica showed interest in recruiting the 19-year-old in the summer, but finally Steaua Bucharest swooped in to sign him in August from Viitorul Constanta for £2 million.
Now, the winger has attracted interest from Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo travelling to Romania to watch Coman in Steaua's 1-0 win over rivals Dynamo.
However, the youngster is reported to have a release clause of £88 million in his contract, inserted by Steaua's controversial owner Gigi Becali, who deemed him to be at the same level as Kylian Mbappe.
Coman plays mainly on the left wing but can move across the front line and has been capped five times by Romania's Under-21 side.
